About
VA Index exists because every “best virtual assistant company” list we could find was written by a virtual assistant company. This one is not, and this page exists so you can check that claim rather than take it.
What this is
An index of 51 virtual assistant companies, 43 of them in healthcare. For each one we read the public pages of its own website and record what it publishes: the rate, the minimum contract, where the assistants are, which services and specialties it names, and the exact wording it uses about HIPAA and Business Associate Agreements.
Every figure carries the sentence it came from, the URL, and the date we read it. A figure we cannot quote does not get published — it shows as Not disclosed, along with the list of pages we checked. Of the 43 healthcare companies here, 25 publish no price at all. That number is a finding, not a gap.
Who runs it
A small company registered in Estonia, run by one person as an independent project. We do not supply virtual assistants, place staff, broker introductions, or take a commission on any engagement. We have no investors in this space and no commercial relationship with any company listed here.
That independence is the entire product. If it ever stops being true, the site stops being worth reading, and we would rather tell you than quietly change.
How it pays for itself
Right now: it doesn’t. The site is a few weeks old, costs about €20 a year in domain fees, and earns nothing.
Eventually, listed companies will be able to pay for two things — to jump the crawl queue, and to hand us extra source material we then publish and label. That is the whole list.
Money can only ever buy more information about a company. It can never buy a better position in any list, a friendlier wording of any field, or the removal of anything unflattering. The full policy.
We will never take a commission on a placement. A directory paid by the companies it compares has an interest in you signing something, and you would have no way to tell that from the outside.
What we are not

Where the data comes from
Our crawler identifies itself as VAIndexBot, obeys robots.txt,
makes at most one request every four seconds per site, and never works around a login
wall or a bot check. We collect nothing about individual assistants — no names, photos,
